Moving to outside planters

May 30, 2023

If you have been following along I’ve been describing the steps from planting through germination and into the beginning stages of growth. My plants have been growing steadily and that growth has forced me to move the plants around to get more space.

Don’t forget that in addition to the concerns about plants crowding each other to grab as light as much as possible, there are factors to consider underwater as well. At some point we know we are going to pull these plants out of the container for transplanting (with the rockwool and net pots attached). Our bigger plants have developed root systems that get more and more intertwined when they are grown together on one tub.

We’ll be as gentle as possible but we will certainly lose a few roots as we pull the plants out of the propagator. When this happens the plants seem to pout for a few days and then resume growing like crazy after a week or so.
